Hello and welcome to Year 1H. We are extremely excited to be teaching year 1 this year as we have so many fascinating topics to teach the children as they begin their journey into Key stage 1. Year 1 Is such an enjoyable year group to teach in as the children grow and develop so quickly and we can’t wait to go on this journey with you and your child. We feel that year 1 plays a vital role in building children’s love for school. We aim to build and expand on all the knowledge that the children have developed in EYFS and continue to spark their love for learning.

In 1H we like to grow our brains! During our journey in year 1 we will learn everything from the seasons of the year to toys from the past. We begin our learning by exploring how the toys in the past have developed into the wonderful, excited toys that we play with today. In numeracy we will begin by expanding our knowledge of place value that we learnt in EYFS. Please see our curriculum map for more information about what we are going to be covering over the course of Year 1.
